The Aura app allows users to upload multiple albums to their frame. However, it is important to note that albums are not playlists and do not determine how photos are displayed on the frame. This includes shared iCloud albums if you have an iOS device. Note: Uploading Albums from your computer is not possible as explained in this article.
Although you can upload multiple albums to the frame, the frame will always display all uploaded photos/videos in a random or chronological fashion, depending on your settings. Album-based playlists are currently not available.
Note (iOS users): if the Aura app doesn't display all your device photos/albums, you probably limited the app's photo access permissions during the initial app setup. To make all your photos/albums visible to the Aura app, open your iOS device Settings, select the Aura app, and change the Photos permissions to "All Photos". Find out more HERE |
How do I add an album to my frame?
It is important to understand that albums are simply a way to upload photos and videos within the Aura app. They do not have any impact on how the content is displayed on the frame. Aura provides you with two ways of adding photos & videos from an album to your frame:
Auto-Add
Auto-added albums sync your entire album with your frame and automatically add any future photos you add to the album on your smart device. This feature filters out duplicates and low-quality images and allows you to share the same photo album with different Aura Frames users. If you delete items from the source album, they will also disappear from the frame.
If you added an album without turning on Auto-Add, there is no easy way to remove the album photos in Aura. Only an Auto-Added album can be removed as a whole by selecting the album, as non Auto-Added albums are loaded into your general photos collection and shuffled with your other content as individual photos. Auto-Add is the only instance in which photos are stored separately in the Aura App. This does not mean that Auto-Add can be used as a separate playlist.
Auto-Add is beneficial for albums which are continually updated, such as shared family albums. If you have a complete album, such as a past holiday or event and will not be adding to it further, consider using 'Select All', as this does not filter your content, and therefore allows for quicker upload.
Select-all
The "Select All" function allows you to add multiple photos and videos to your frame at the same time. Unlike the "Auto-Add" procedure, this function does not filter the content you select and therefore allows for a quicker upload. However, it's important to note that this function only adds the selected items to your frame and does not automatically sync the album with your frame. This means that any new content added to the album will not appear on your frame unless you manually add it.
Both options allow you to upload photos from an existing photo album on your device, but they are added differently.
-
Open the Aura app, tap on the "A" setting to select your frame and scroll down to tap on the yellow "Add Photos" button:
-
Tap on the "Camera Roll" (iOS) or "Photos" (Android) icon on the top to change from Individual Photo to Album selection view.
-
Your Aura app will now display all existing albums on your smart device (unless you limited the Aura iOS app permissions):
-
Select an album of your choice and tap "Select All" to select all the photos that are currently in that album.
-
You will now be offered to enable "Auto-Add" which will effectively sync this album with your frame:
Note: Auto-added albums are synced with your frame and if you delete items from the source album, they'll also disappear from the frame. There is no way to recover those once they are deleted. Your frame will always display the photos that are in the source album. - Select if you want to add (or sync) this album with one - or multiple frames - and confirm by tapping on the yellow "Add Album" button.
- If you enabled Auto-Add, your synced album will now be shown in the top section of your frame's photo section:

How can I remove an 'Auto-Added' (= synced) Album from a frame?
At any time, you can disable the "Auto-Add" feature to un-sync a particular album from your frame. The app will then offer you to:
-
Un-sync the album but keep already uploaded photos on your app/frame
- Un-sync the album and also delete the photos from your app/frame (but not from your device's photo library)
Here is how you can disable 'Auto-Add' for individual albums:
- Open the Aura app and select the frame that you want to un-synch an album from.
- In the frame view, tap on the album that you want to un-sync.
-
Click on the three dots in the top right corner:
-
Disable Auto-Add and choose whether you want to remove or keep already uploaded photos from that album:
