The Highlights feature in the photo picker showcases your best and most relevant photos by displaying them larger than other photos and with a prominent star icon in the corner. This optional feature uses facial recognition technology to quickly filter your camera roll or other photo collection to display only the most relevant photos for each frame. This feature is a great way to quickly find and view your best photos. Try it out and enhance your photo browsing experience!
This feature is currently only available on iOS for users who have enabled Smart Suggestions and granted full photo access permission in the photo picker. |
How does it work?
The feature works by using facial recognition technology to identify the people who are most relevant to your frame. It then finds all the good photos of them in the current collection.
There are three choices available to you when using the Highlights feature:
- Highlights: This is the recommended view that may be the default for some users. It shows Highlighted photos as larger than others and places a star in the top left.
- Highlights Only: This is the view of just the best photos. They are larger than the standard grid and have the star icon in the top left.
- No Highlights: This shows all photos in a regular grid layout.
When you choose Highlights or No Highlights, the app will remember that setting and use it as the default for all collections whenever you use the photo picker in the future. If you choose “Highlights Only”, the app will return to Highlights on your next session.
