Aura Frames come in a beautiful, gift-ready box and no pricing information will be enclosed to avoid spoiling the surprise. 

Although the frame is a great gift in itself, you can use our Gift Preparation options to further personalise the gift experience for the recipient: 

1. Add a virtual gift message that will appear in the app and on the frame
2. Pre-load photos and videos as a nice surprise 
3. Invite additional frame members (friends, family) who can contribute  

All of this can be done "virtually" or "physically":

1. Virtual: The gift is prepared while the frame is being shipped directly to the recipient 
2. Physical: The gift is prepared at the gifter's home first (before the frame is passed on to the recipient)  

The pre-loaded content will then appear on the recipient's frame once they connect it to their WiFi network. 

Scenario 1: Virtual - Frame being sent directly to the recipient 

In this scenario, the gifter orders the frame from an online store (e.g. www.auraframes.co.uk or Amazon) and ships it directly to the recipient. The gift preparation is “virtual” since it is done remotely while the frame is on the way to the recipient.

1. If you don’t already have the Aura app, go to www.auraframes.com/app or visit the Apple App Store or Google Play and search “Aura Frames” to locate and install the free Aura app. 
2. Either log into your existing account or create a new one. 
3. If you have used the Aura app before, tap on “+NEW FRAME” to set up the new frame. If this is the first time you’re using the app, you will immediately start here.
4. Since this is a gift, please select that the frame is for “Someone else”:
    
   
5. Then, select the “Virtual Code” option:
    
   
   
   
6. Follow the clear instructions to name the frame recipient and to prepare the frame with a gift message, photos and invited members 
7. You will be provided a unique “Gift Claim Code” that must be shared with the recipient so they can enter it during the setup. You can share it via the Aura App. 
8. Once the recipient has connected the frame, they can enter this claim code and the gift message will be displayed on their frame and the preloaded photos will start to display.

Congratulations - the gift preparation is completed!  You are automatically a member of this frame now and you can use your account (via the app or the web uploader) to continue uploading new photos to this frame.

When the recipient receives the frame: 

• They will install the free Aura app to create an account and to follow the clear in-app instructions to set up their frame on their WiFi network.
  
  
• If the giver had to create a Gift Claim code, the recipient will then be asked to input it at which point their frame (and app) will display your message and any uploaded photos.
  
  
• If no Gift Claim code had to be created, The frame will automatically display the message and any uploaded photos once it connects to the WiFi. 
  
  
• The frame will appear in every frame member's app as "Gift Frame" until the recipient connects it to their WiFi. Once the frame is online, the owner will have the ability to rename their frame, change frame settings, view all the photos selected for the frame from within the Aura app and on the frame. All members can continue to add photos to the frame to surprise and delight the gift recipient.

Scenario 2: Physical - Frame being prepared by the Gifter  

In this scenario, you have the frame at home so you can physically prepare it before passing it on to the recipient. Scanning the Gift Setup code, you can prepare the frame without actually opening the box, thus keeping it new / pristine for the recipient. 

However, if you want to test the frame or pre-set the recipient’s WiFi network, you will have to connect the frame which will be offered during the gift setup flow.

Preparing the Gift: 

1. If you don’t already have the Aura app, visit the Apple App Store or Google Play and search “Aura Frames” to locate and install the free Aura app. You can also go to auraframes.com/app directly. 
2. Either log into your existing account or create a new one 
3. If you have used the Aura app before, tap on “+NEW FRAME” to set up the new frame. If this is the first time you’re using the app, you will immediately start here.
4. Since this is a gift, select that the frame is for “Someone else”
   
   
   
   
5. Then, select the Gift setup code option to activate the Aura app’s scanner function. You may have to allow the app access to your device’s camera first.
   
   

   Note: if you want to test the frame, you can select the “Plug in the frame” option instead. This means that the frame will no longer be in pristine / new condition.

   
   
6. Remove the clear wrapping from the box and peel away the external printed sheet location on the side or bottom of the box to reveal the Gift Setup QR code. Depending on your frame model, this may be in different locations

7. Point the camera at the Gift code on the packaging to start the actual in-app gift preparation flow.
   
   

   Note: The Gift code can only be used once and it will expire the moment that the frame is unboxed and connected to power. If you get a message that the Gift Setup Code “has already been used or is invalid", please go back to step 5, select the “Plug in the frame” option and complete the gift preparation from step 8 onwards.

8. The app will now offer you the following options to prepare the gift:
   
   
   Upload a virtual message and a featured photo that will appear on the frame when the recipient connects it to their WiFi network.  The message will also appear once in the recipient's app and it is saved in the Aura Frames app under the Activity tab.
   
   
   Invite friends and family (not the gift recipient!) that want to contribute to this frame. You can do this now or skip for later, more info can be found in this article
   
   
   Add photos - or entire albums - to the frame. The frame will start displaying them once the recipient has connected it to their WiFi network.
   
   
   
   
9. Next, choose how you want to set up the WiFi Connection 
   
   

   CONNECT LATER: This is the most common option and allows the recipient to finish the setup by using the free Aura app to connect the new frame to their WiFi.  Here is an article that describes the frame setup in further detail.

   
   
   

   PRESET WIFI: If you know the recipient’s WiFi network name and password, you can use this option to pre-set it on the frame. it will then automatically connect to the recipient’s network. This option is great if the recipient doesn’t own a smart device. Note: if you input the details incorrectly, an invited frame member needs to use the Aura app to change the WiFi settings onsite.

   
   
   

   CONNECT NOW: Only choose this option if you are actually at the recipient’s destination so you can connect the frame to their WiFi network. Otherwise, please use the “Connect Later” or “Preset WiFi” option.

   
   
10. Until the frame has been connected to the recipient’s WiFi, the frame will be displayed as "Gift for: xxxx" and you can edit or erase the prepared gift as described in this FAQ. 
    

Congratulations - the gift preparation is completed! Pack up the frame and send it to the final recipient.  You are automatically a member of this frame now and you can use your account (via the App or the web uploader) to continue uploading new photos to this frame and invite more members to the frame to continue to enjoy your photos together. 

When the recipient receives their frame: 

• WiFi NOT preset: The recipient will install the free Aura app to create an account and follow the clear in-app instructions to set up their frame on their WiFi network.
  
  
• WiFi WAS preset: The frame will automatically connect to the recipient’s WiFi network the moment it is plugged in to power. The frame will then display your message and any uploaded photos. 
  
  
• The frame will appear in every frame member's app as "Gift Frame" until the recipient connects it to their WiFi. Once the frame is online, the owner will have the ability to rename their frame, change frame settings, view all the photos selected for the frame from within the Aura app and on the frame.
