What is the Captions feature?
The Captions feature lets you personalize your photos and videos by adding text and emojis that appear directly on your Aura frame. You can add, edit, remove, or hide captions at any time using the Aura app.
|
When adding a caption to a photo or video, you’ll be prompted to choose where the caption should appear:
|
Are captions available on both iOS and Android?
Yes! The captions feature is free and available for both iOS and Android users. Make sure you’re using the latest version of the Aura app, available from the App Store or Google Play Store.
Who can add a caption?
Any frame member using the Aura app can add, edit, or remove a caption.
Which frames support captions?
Captions will only appear on Aura Frame models with a touch bar.
How to Add, Edit, or Remove a Caption to a Photo or Video Clip
Before adding a caption, please ensure that the photo or video you are attempting to caption has successfully uploaded.
If you see a crossed-out eyeball icon on the photo or video, toggle the In Slideshow setting ON and use the Show Now feature to push the photo or video to the frame. This confirms the item has successfully uploaded before captioning.
Each caption has a limit of 140 characters.
To add a caption:
Open the Aura app.
From the Photos tab, tap on the photo or video you would like to caption.
Tap Add a caption below the photo or video. A text box will appear where you can enter your desired text and emojis.
Tap the yellow Save button.
-
Choose whether you want the caption to appear on all frames where the photo or video appears in your Aura network, or on the currently selected frame only.
The caption will be added to the photo or video on the selected frame or frames.
| Note: The captions feature will only work on active frames - captions can not be added to 'virtual' gift frames (See: Gifting a Frame: Overview & Preparation) |
To edit or remove a caption:
Open the Aura app.
From the Photos tab, tap the photo or video with the caption you would like to change.
Tap the pencil icon to open the text box.
Edit the existing caption, or tap the X to remove the caption.
Tap the yellow Save button to save your changes, or tap Cancel to discard them.
Choose whether you want the changes to apply to all frames where the photo or video appears in your Aura network, or to the currently selected frame only.
Your changes will be saved.
How to Disable or Hide Captions
Captions are enabled on each frame by default. You can choose to disable or hide all captions on your frame display. Hidden captions will still be saved and remain visible within the Aura app.
To disable or hide captions:
Open the Aura app and tap the gear icon to access Frame Settings.
Tap Photo Captions under Slideshow.
Toggle the setting OFF to hide captions on your frame.
Toggle the setting back ON at any time to show captions again.
Your changes will be saved. Tap the back arrow or swipe down on the card to return to Frame Settings.
When will the caption appear on the frame?
After your frame is set up and connected to Wi-Fi, it may need to complete a software update before captions are enabled.
For newly set up frames, this update can take 48 to 72 hours. Once the update is complete and you see the option to add captions in the Aura app, your frame is running the required software.
Captions feature not showing in the Aura app?
Newly set up frames must update to the latest version of the frame software before captions are supported. Please keep your frame powered on and connected to the network to allow the software to update automatically. This process can take up to 72 hours.
Once a caption is added and successfully saved, it will appear the next time the photo or video is shown on the frame.
If you’d like to see the caption sooner, you can use "Show Now" to push the photo to display. This is usually immediate, but in some cases may take up to 10 minutes.
Important notes to ensure captions save correctly
Wait until the photo or video has fully uploaded to Aura’s cloud before adding a caption.
If the photo shows a crossed-out eyeball icon (not uploaded or not included in the slideshow), the caption will not be saved.
Can I change the font style, size, or color?
At this time, font customization options such as font type, size, or color are not available. Captions are displayed in a clear, standard format to ensure easy readability.
