Aura frames allow you, or any invited frame members, to upload photos and videos to your frame(s), making it easy to share meaningful moments.
Each photo or video on your frame can either be included in the slideshow (displayed on the frame) or excluded from the slideshow (not displayed on the frame).
In Slideshow vs. Not In Slideshow
Every photo or video added to your frame has a toggle called “In Slideshow.”
In Slideshow means the photo or video will be displayed on your Aura frame.
Not In Slideshow means the photo or video is excluded from the slideshow and will not be displayed on the frame.
When a photo or video is set to Not In Slideshow, it is still stored in your Aura app and can be added back to the slideshow at any time.
What Does the Crossed-Eye (Hidden) Icon Mean?
If a photo or video is excluded from the slideshow, it will display a small crossed-eye (hidden) icon in the top right corner when viewed in:
The Photos tab
The photo details screen
The crossed-eye icon means:
The photo or video is Not In Slideshow
It is excluded from being displayed on the frame
It has not been deleted
This icon is only an indicator of slideshow status.
How to Use the In Slideshow Feature
To include or exclude a photo or video from the slideshow:
Tap on a photo or video in the Aura app
Locate the “In Slideshow” toggle
Turn the toggle off to set it to “Not In Slideshow”
When the toggle is turned off, the photo or video will no longer be displayed on that specific frame until you turn it back on.
What Happens When a Photo Is Not In Slideshow
When a photo or video is set to Not In Slideshow:
It will not appear on the frame
It will remain visible in the Aura app
Other frame members will still see it in the app
You can re-enable In Slideshow at any time
Please note:
When a photo or video is not included in the slideshow, you will no longer see the “Show Now” option
Instead, you will see an option to Remove the photo
Removing a photo will permanently delete it from the app and the frame for all users, unless it has been uploaded to another frame.
When Photos Are Automatically Set to Not In Slideshow
In some cases, photos or videos may be excluded from the slideshow automatically:
Any new uploads are automatically set to In Slideshow
If the full resolution of an image is still being downloaded, the photo will be set to Excluded
If you synced an album using the Auto-Add feature, photos that did not pass quality filters (such as blurred images, duplicates, or nudity) will initially be set to Not In Slideshow unless you manually add them back
Why You Might Exclude Photos from the Slideshow
This feature can be useful in several scenarios, including:
Creating a temporary slideshow theme by only including certain photos or videos
Removing a photo from the frame display without deleting it
Keeping a photo uploaded by another frame member without displaying it on the frame
