What is the Captions feature?
Captions let you add text to a photo on an Aura frame. The caption will appear on the frame’s screen whenever the photo is displayed. You can include text and emojis and edit the caption at any time.
Why can't I see the Captions feature on my Android device?
The free Captions feature is now gradually rolling out to Android devices! If you do not see the Captions feature on your Android device, please ensure that your Aura app is up to date in the Google Play store, and keep checking back for updates!
Who can add a caption?
Any frame member using the Aura app can add, edit, or remove a caption.
Which frames support captions?
Captions will only appear on Aura Frame models with a touch bar.
How to Add, Edit, or Remove a Caption to a Photo or Video Clip
To add a caption:
- Open the Aura app.
- Click on any photo in the "Photos" tab.
- Tap the caption section below the image and enter your caption.
- Tap "Save"
-
Once a caption is added to a photo, it will be displayed on every frame that shows the photo.
Note: The captions feature will only work on active frames - captions can not be added to 'virtual' gift frames (See: Gifting a Frame: Overview & Preparation)
To edit or remove a caption:
- From the Photos tab, click on the photo again.
- Tap the caption to edit the text or select "Clear" or “Delete” to remove it.
- If editing, click "Save" to update the caption. If cleared or deleted, the caption will be permanently removed.
When will the caption appear on the frame?
For newly set up frames, captions may take 24 to 48 hours to appear, as your frame will automatically update its software during this time.
Once your frame is up to date, the caption will be displayed the next time the photo appears on the frame. If you want to see the caption sooner, you can use "Show Now" to force the photo to display on the frame. This should be immediate. If not, please try again and allow up to 10 minutes.
Important note: To ensure your captions are saved and appear correctly
Wait until the photo has fully uploaded to Aura’s cloud server before adding a caption.
If the photo has a crossed-out eyeball icon (not uploaded or not in slideshow), its caption won’t be saved.
Can I change the font style, size, or colour?
Currently, font customisation options—such as colour, size, or font type—are unavailable. Captions will appear in a clear, standard format for easy readability.
