Aura users with U.S. cell phone numbers can now send photos to frame(s) via text message, either in response to a frame invite or by adding the number to an Aura account. 

To start, Aura will send you a text message. Text your photos in that message thread, and those photos will be uploaded to the receiving frame(s), just like uploads initiated from the Aura Frames app. Videos, PDFs, iOS Live Photos, and some HEIC variants are currently not supported.   

This FAQ covers the two main ways to text photos to a frame:  

1. Aura account owners texting photos to their frame(s) 
2. Aura account owners invite others to join their frame by sending an invitation to the receipients mobile number. The recipient can either fully join the frame and create an Aura account or, if they do not accept the initial invitation, a follow-up text will allow them to join your frame using only their phone number.  Either account is a member of your frame, and this is required for texting to an Aura frame.

Sending texts to Aura

Most users will interact with Aura through a branded text sender (you'll see Aura's logo in your cell phone's messaging app). In the message thread with Aura, you can: 

• Upload unlimited photos by text message
• Type FRAMES to choose which frame(s) receive your photo(s)

If your cell phone or carrier does not support a branded experience, you will text and receive messages from Aura via a 10-digit telephone number. You can still text to your frame, but with limits: 

• You can send up to 5 photos at a time

• Photos will always go to all frames you are a member of

   

Set up texting: add your phone number in the Aura app

If you have an Aura Frames account, you can add and verify your U.S. cell phone number in the app. During account creation, the app will give you the option to add your phone number. If you want to do this later, please do the following:

• Open the Aura Frames app 
• Tap on the three lines in the top left corner
• Select "View Account" 
• Add your U.S. cell phone number to the "Phone Number" field 
• Enter the 6-digit verification code that you'll receive by text message 

Once verified, you will get a welcome message from an Aura-branded text sender or a 10-digit number (SMS). You can now start texting photos. 

So that you know, you cannot forward this conversation to others to also text to your frame.  Instead, you'll need to invite them to join your frame.

Changing or Removing your Phone Number  

To update or remove your phone number, open the Aura Frames app and: 

• Tap on the three lines in the top left corner
• Select "View Account"
• Tap on your phone number to edit or delete it

If you edited the number, you will receive a new verification code by text message. 

If you remove the number, you will no longer be able to send or receive text messages from Aura. 

Texting to a frame without installing the Aura App

In the Aura app, add someone’s mobile number to invite them to join your frame. If they don't accept the invite within four hours, they will receive a follow-up message offering text-to-frame access without using the Aura App.  

Please keep in mind that they have two options: become a full-frame member by downloading the Aura app, or use text-only sharing without installing the app.

Managing photos sent by text

To view or delete photos you sent with Text-To-Frame, you need:

• An Aura account and the Aura Frames app

• To be a member of that frame

If you are already a frame member, open the Aura Frames app, select the frame, and manage your photos there. 

If you have texted photos to the frame without joining it in the app, you will not see the frame or your uploads. To become a member: 

• Open the Text-To-Frame message thread on your phone

• Find the original frame invite (the first message)

• Tap the invite and follow the steps to join the frame in the Aura app 

Once you are a frame member, all photos you’ve texted to that frame will appear in your Aura Frames app, where you can view or delete them.
