Managing your Aura account gives you full control over how you set up frames, share photos, and stay connected with friends and family. This guide covers everything you need to know about creating and updating your account, managing your details, handling access issues, and understanding common messages. Whether you're getting started or troubleshooting a problem, you’ll find step-by-step guidance below.
Tip: Click on each section below to expand and view the full instructions.
1. You need an account to:
- Set up a new frame in the app
- Upload photos or videos
- Prepare a gift frame with photos and a message
- Adjust frame settings (slide duration, sleep timer, multiple frames)
- Upload photos from a computer via a web browser
You don’t need an account if:
- Someone else set up the frame, and you only use the touch bar
- You’re just buying a frame as a gift and not setting it up
You only text photos to a frame, +1 area codes only, see TTF FAQ
2. Should I use more than one Aura account?
Use one account per person and don’t share accounts.
- One account can manage multiple frames
- Easier photo management and fewer login issues
- Safer sharing with friends and family
3. How do I create an Aura account?
On mobile:
- Download and open the Aura Frames app (auraframes.com/app)
- Follow the on-screen prompts to sign up
On a computer:
- Go to app.auraframes.com and create an account
Check your inbox for “Verify your email address” and complete verification.
4. How do I change my password?
Follow the steps in: How to reset your Aura password.
5. How do I change my account email?
Important: You must be able to sign in to change your email, and we can’t merge accounts.
To update your email:
- Open the Aura app and sign in
- Tap the three lines in the top left corner
- Tap “View account”
- Tap your email, update it, then tap “Save”
You’ll need access to the new email to manage your account.
6. How do I change or remove my phone number?
- Open the Aura app
- Tap the three lines in the top left corner
- Tap “View account”
- Edit or delete your phone number
If you edit the number, you’ll get a text with a verification code. If you delete it, you’ll no longer receive text messages from Aura.
7. How do I update a profile photo?
Only the account owner can update their profile photo.
- Open the Aura app and sign in
- Tap the three lines in the top left corner
- Tap “View account”
- Tap “Change Profile Photo” and choose to take a new photo or upload an existing one
8. How do I add or update my birthday?
If prompted, you can enter your birthday (month and day). It’s not editable once saved.
10. How do I delete my Aura account?
See: Deleting your Aura account.
Important: Deleting your account permanently removes any photos and videos you uploaded from all frames, and they cannot be restored.
11. I can’t access my old account
If you lost access due to a typo or an old email:
- Create a new Aura account
- If there are other frame members, ask them to invite your new account
- If there are no other members, reset the frame and set it up again with your new account
12. Deceased account holders
Aura accounts are private. We can’t give access to someone else’s account, even if they’ve passed away.
To keep using the frame:
- Ask an existing frame member to invite your Aura account
- If there are no other members, reset the frame and set it up as a new frame with your own account
13. Ownership and giving a frame to someone else
Aura frames don’t have a single “owner.” All frame members have the same permissions, so you don’t need to transfer ownership.
If you’re giving the frame to someone else and want to keep the photos:
- Stay a member
- Invite the new person to the frame
- They can then change the Wi-Fi to connect the frame in the new location
If you don’t want your photos on the frame:
- You can leave the frame which only removes you and your content from the frame or you can completely erase the frame by removing all members and then removing yourself last. (important see: Removing a frame from your app)
14. Common messages and what they mean
“Hi, (your name), let’s set up a frame”
You’ve likely created a new account instead of signing into your existing one.
- Tap the three dots in the top right
- Tap “Log out”
- Sign back in with the email you normally use
If you’re expecting an invite, tap “Looking for a frame invite?” and follow the prompts.
“Oops! Could not request password reset. Try again later”
Make sure you’re entering the email address linked to your Aura account.
- If you’re unsure, try any other email addresses you might have used and request a reset again
“You are not a member of this frame”
You need an invitation to access that frame.
- If you used to have access, ask another frame member to send you a new invite
- This can happen if you were removed or if you’re signed in with a different email than the one that was invited
