The Aura app allows you to upload entire albums from your device(s) to your Aura frame, thus simplifying the process of adding and managing multiple photos at once.
Note: while you can upload existing albums from your device, the Aura app does not support creating new albums or playlists directly within the app and you can’t select individual albums as frame playlists. Additionally, albums do not determine the order in which photos are displayed on the frame; the slideshow can be set to play in either Shuffle or Chronological order.
Adding an Album to Your Aura Frame
-
Open the Aura App: Launch the Aura app on your device.
-
Select Your Frame: Tap on the "A" icon in the top left corner of your app to select your frame, then tap the yellow "Add Photos" button.
-
Switch to Album View: Tap on the "Camera Roll" (iOS) or "Photos" (Android) icon at the top to switch from individual photo selection to album selection view.
-
Choose an Album: Your Aura app will display all existing albums on your device. Select the album you wish to add.
“iOS Users Only” If you don’t see all your albums, check your device settings to ensure the Aura app has full access to your photo library. Find out more here.
-
Select All Photos: Tap "Select All" to choose all photos in the album.
-
Enable Auto-Add (Optional): You will be prompted to "Enable Auto-Add." Enabling this means Aura will sync this particular album with your frame.
Auto-Add is beneficial for continually updated albums, such as shared family albums. With Auto-Add enabled, our quality filter automatically excludes suspected duplicates, blurry photos, and potentially inappropriate content, ensuring only the best photos are displayed on your frame.Depending on various factors, these albums may populate quickly or require some time to process. - Add Album: Confirm your selection by tapping the yellow "Add" button.
💡 Tip: This also works with shared albums from iCloud or Google Photos, so you can easily update your frame with photos from your whole family without giving them access to your frame!
📌 Note: Uploading albums from your computer is not possible. Learn more in this article.
Important Notes:
- Auto-Add Feature: If you uninstall and reinstall the Aura app on the device that created the album, or if you are using a new phone, you will need to set up the Auto-Add album again. This feature is linked specifically to the original device.
-
Activity Tab Updates – The Activity tab may be inconsistent for Auto-Add albums, and we are working to improve this feature.
-
Removing Photos:
- If you add an album without Auto-Add enabled, photos are uploaded individually to the app’s Photos section. You can manually remove them from there.
- If you added an album with Auto-Add enabled, you can disable Auto-Add and choose to keep or remove the album photos.
- Photo Sync Timing – When you add photos or videos to an album (including auto-added albums), it can take some time for them to appear on your frame. This timing isn’t necessarily affected by your WiFi speed, as syncing depends on several factors such as the number of photos being processed and how the album is connected to the Aura app. While the sync usually happens automatically in the background, delays can occur especially with large or newly updated albums.
Removing an Auto-Added (Synced) Album from Your Frame
To un-sync an album and remove its photos from your frame:
-
Open the Aura app and select the frame you want to update.
-
Tap the “Photos” tab at the bottom, then go to the “Albums” section.
-
Select the album you want to un-sync from the frame.
-
Tap the three dots (•••) in the top right corner.
-
A message will appear:
“Disable Auto-Add?”
Disabling Auto-Add means Aura will no longer monitor and add new photos from this album to your frame.
-
Tap “Disable Auto-Add”.
-
You’ll then be asked:
“Keep existing selections?”
Choose one of the following:
-
Keep existing photos – This keeps the photos already added from the album on your frame, but removes the album itself. Note: these photos will no longer be grouped in an album.
-
Remove all photos – This removes all photos that were added from this album from your frame.
-
Cancel – This will leave the Auto-Add setting unchanged.
-
Keep existing photos – This keeps the photos already added from the album on your frame, but removes the album itself. Note: these photos will no longer be grouped in an album.
To completely remove the album and its photos, select “Remove all photos.” This helps keep your frame content tidy and aligned with your current preferences.
