In this guide, we’ll walk you through each step of the setup process, ensuring it’s quick, simple, and enjoyable. By the end, you’ll be ready to enjoy your memories in no time!
What You’ll Need:
- Your Aura frame and power adapter.
- A smartphone or tablet (platform version - iOS 14 & up and Android OS Oreo (8.0) or higher.

The free Aura Frames App (available on Google Play and the Apple App Store).

Step 1: Download the Aura Frames App (Finding the Aura app)
- Go to the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
- Search for “Aura Frames” and download the app.
- Open the app and create a free Aura account. If you already have an account, log in.
Step 2: Unbox and Plug In Your Frame
- Carefully unbox your frame and plug it into a power outlet.
- A 4-digit code will appear on the frame’s display.
Step 3: Connect Your Frame to the Aura App

Open the Aura Frames App on your device.
- New users will be guided directly to the setup screen.
- Existing users: Tap “+ NEW FRAME” in the app (See below)
- IMPORTANT: Select “It’s for me,” even if you’re setting up the frame for someone else. (Choosing “Someone else” starts the gift preparation flow.)

If Bluetooth is enabled on your device, the app will automatically detect the 4-digit Bluetooth code displayed on your frame. This temporary connection is just to help set up WiFi—your frame will use WiFi exclusively after setup.

Step 4: Connect to WiFi
- In the app, you’ll see a list of available WiFi networks.
- Select your network and enter the password.

Once connected, your frame will display: “Connected! Please add photos in the Aura App.”

Step 5: Personalize Your Frame
- Name your frame to make it easy to identify. This can be changed at any time in app settings: Renaming your Aura Frame
- Invite family and friends to contribute photos to the frame via the app. For more information and details on managing frame members click here.
What If My Frame Was Preloaded as a Gift?
If the frame was a gift, the giver might have added photos or a digital gift message:
- If the gift was prepared via the Gift Setup QR code, the preloaded content will appear automatically once the frame is connected to your WiFi network.
- If the giver created a virtual claim code and shared it with you, you can enter it during the frame setup. The app will ask if the frame was a gift - simply confirm and enter the code. Learn more about Claim Code here.
