How does it work?

Aura Frames are designed to be a delightful, personalized gift experience right from the start. Here’s how it works:

1. Gift-Ready Packaging:
   Each Aura Frame comes beautifully packaged in a gift-ready box with no pricing information included, preserving the surprise.
   
   
2. Gift Personalization Options:
   Make your gift even more memorable with our Gift Preparation options, which allow you to add a personal touch:
   
   
   • Add a Personal Message:
     Include a custom message that will appear on the frame as a one-off special greeting, adding a heartfelt touch to your gift.
     
     
   • Pre-Load Photos and Videos:
     Surprise the recipient by pre-loading cherished memories, so they can enjoy the photos and videos as soon as the frame connects to the recipient's WiFi. 
     
     
   • Invite Family and Friends:
     You can invite additional contributors (friends, family) to add photos and videos both during the Gift Preparation stage and after the gift is claimed, so everyone can share in creating lasting memories.
     
     
3. Connecting and Viewing the Pre-Loaded Content:
   Once the recipient connects their frame to WiFi and claims the gift, all pre-loaded photos and videos will appear on the frame, ready to enjoy.

Choosing the right Gift Preparation method

Aura Frames offers two convenient gift preparation methods to best suit your and the recipient’s setup. Please select only one method, as using both may cause setup issues.

Option A) Generating a Virtual Code (REMOTE Preparation) 

Best for:

• When ordering the frame online and shipping it directly to the recipient from Aura or any authorized retailer.
  
• When ordering through auraframes.com (US), as this option is offered during checkout or via the “Giving Aura as a Gift” email.
  
• When gifting more than one frame. 

How it works:

1. Use the Aura Frames app to create a unique gift code.
2. Add your gift message, photos, and frame contributors to the virtual code. 
3. Share the code with the recipient through the Aura Frames app. 
4. When the recipient sets up their frame, the app will ask whether the frame was a gift and if they have a gift claim code. If they do, they can enter the code. 
   
5. The personalized gift content will instantly appear on their frame upon WiFi connection.  

Note: If you ordered from auraframes.com (US), you’ll also receive a "Giving Aura as a Gift" email with instructions to start this process automatically. 

Option B) Scanning the Gift Setup (QR) Code (PHYSICAL Preparation)

Best for:

• When you have the frame in your possession before gifting it.
• Situations where you’d prefer the recipient not to enter a gift code—the content appears as soon as they connect to their WiFi.

How it works:

1. Open the Aura Frames app and scan the unique QR code printed on the outside of the frame’s box (a peel-away marking shows where to find it).
2. Add your gift message, photos, and frame contributors to the frame. 
3. When the recipient connects their frame to WiFi, all gift content will automatically display—no additional setup or code entry is required!
   
   

Preparing the Gift

Whether you choose the Virtual Gift code or the Gift Setup (QR) Code, the main steps are very similar: 

1. Install and Open the Aura Frames App
   Download the Aura app from auraframes.com/app and open it.
    

2. Start the Gift Setup Process
   
   First-time users:
   The Aura app will guide you directly to the setup screen.
   
   Returning users:
   Tap the “A” icon in the top left corner, scroll down, and select “+ New Frame.”
   
   
   
3. Select the Gift Option
   Choose “Someone else” to prepare the gift for someone else.
   
   
   
   
   
4. Choose Your Gift Preparation Method 
   
   Generate a Virtual Code
   Choose this option if you’re preparing the gift remotely.
   
   Gift Setup (QR) Code
   Choose this option if you have physical access to the frame.
   
   
   
   
   
5. Follow the Aura Frame App’s Guided Steps
   The Aura app will take you through a few easy setup steps:
   
   
   • Recipient Name: Enter the name of the person receiving the frame.
     
     
   • Personal Message and Main Photo: Add a special message and a main photo that will appear on the frame when it’s first connected to the recipient’s WiFi.
     
     
   • Add Photos and Videos: Include additional photos and videos for the recipient to enjoy.
     
     
   • Invite Family and Friends: Share access with other family members or friends who may want to add photos—just be sure not to invite the recipient at this stage to avoid spoiling the surprise. They will become a member as part of the frame setup (More info: Access Rights for Frame Members)
     
     
   
   
6. Complete the Setup
   

• For Virtual Code Preparation: The Aura app will generate a unique Gift Claim Code to share with the recipient, which they can enter during the frame setup.
  
  
• For Gift Setup (QR) Code Preparation: No code is needed! The gift content will automatically appear once the frame connects to a WiFi network.

Claiming the Gift

The recipient claiming the Aura Frame gift is a simple process and similar for the Virtual Gift Code or the Gift Setup (QR) Code. Here’s what the recipient needs to do:

1. Install the Aura Frames App
   Download the Aura app from auraframes.com/app and create a free account.
   
   
2. Start the Setup Process
   The Aura app will automatically guide the recipient through setting up the new frame. (They can view a quick video tutorial here: Setting up a New Frame)
   
   
3. Claim the Gift
   The next steps will vary based on how the gift was prepared:
   
   
   • For Virtual Gift Code: Once the frame connects to the recipient's WiFi network, the Aura app will ask the recipient if their frame was a gift. When they confirm, they’ll be prompted to enter the unique gift claim code provided by the gifter.
     
     If the recipient missed this prompt during the frame setup, they can still enter it afterwards as explained here: Gifting a Frame: Troubleshooting.
     
     
   • For Gift Setup (QR) Code: No code entry is needed. The recipient connects the frame to their WiFi network, and the gifter’s message and pre-loaded photos will appear automatically.
     
     
4. Enjoy the New Frame!
   Once the gift is claimed:
   • The personal message will be displayed on the frame - once - as a special greeting (it can't be replayed). 
     
   • The frame will then begin cycling through all the uploaded photos and videos.
   • Any friends or family who have been invited to the frame can continue to upload new photos, keeping the memories fresh and up-to-date.
