This article explains how to change the WiFi network of a frame that has already been set up. If you need to change the network to connect the frame to a "captive portal network", please read this article instead.
You may need to do this if:
- You changed your ISP, your router, your network name or network password
- You moved the frame to a new location with a new (residential) network
Note: To ensure that our frames are always secure:

Follow the steps below to change the WiFi network for your frame:
-
Plug in the Aura frame and make sure it is within reasonable distance of the WiFi router.
-
The frame's display will show a 4 digit number along with the message, "Couldn't join the network 'X.' Please try again in the Aura app."
- Open the Aura app and tap onto the frame in which you would like to change the WiFi network.
-
Tap the icon in the top right corner to open the frame settings, then tap on the WiFi network name next to "WiFi Network":
-
Tap "Change WiFi Network" to disconnect from the old/current WiFi network so you can connect to a different network.
-
Grant the Aura app Bluetooth permission (you may have to go into your smart device's settings menu) so it can pair with your frame and allow you to select - or manually enter - the new WiFi network name.
-
Enter the WiFi credentials and tap "Save" or "Join".
If for some reason the above does not work - and you can't see your WiFi network - please go back to the Aura app Frame Settings page and tap on "WiFi Network" once again. With some routers (Comcast in particular), it can take 2-3 attempts until the network is displayed in the app. If your third attempt fails, please unplug your WiFi router and try again shortly after your router has fully rebooted. |
Any photos and contributors that had already been on your frame will still be on the frame once you reconnect it using the above workaround.
- If your WiFi network still doesn't appear, please ensure that it actually supports the 2.4 GHz standard, before following the below steps.
- If your app or frame says "Couldn't join the network [_____]. Please try again in the Aura app." or "Unable to connect to WiFi network", please check out our WiFi Troubleshooting FAQ.
If this doesn't help, please follow the below work-around steps |
Note: Although this work-around will be creating a "new" frame, any photos and contributors that had already been on your frame will still be on the frame once you reconnect it using the below workaround.
-
Plug in the Aura frame and make sure it is within reasonable distance of the WiFi router.
-
Open the Aura app, tap on the "A" icon in the top left corner and tap the "+ New Frame" button at the bottom of the page.
-
Next, select whether you want to set up the frame for yourself ("It's for me") and follow the steps to connect your frame to the correct WiFi network.
- You can also follow this walkthrough for setting up a new frame which will take you through the same step by step process of changing your existing frame's WiFi network.
